A Nation of Contrasts

The divided opinions make America great. But what does this contrast make for this country?

There are three waiters in three countries. They had a bad time with their girlfriends the night before. For the Chinese waiter, he would still come to work but wear a dark face all day long. So you can see his personal life on his face. The Japanese waiter would wear nothing but smiles. You can tell nothing about his personal life through his service. When it comes to the American waiter, all worries are gone. Because he will never show up.

In other words, the Chinese waiter may serve you or may not. The Japanese waiter is always in service. For the American waiter, well, serving you? It’s not my damn business.

Today this joke doesn’t bode well for my wife, who is in desperate need of American service. Her current cancer treatment is losing effect. The Oncologist ordered she start chemotherapy ASAP. “The hospital will call you soon for the appointment,” he said. One week passed, and nothing happened. So I called them.

Calling the 800 lines is a daunting task. Most Americans who must live through calling these numbers would agree with me. Firstly I was greeted by a crossword puzzle where I had to juggle through the numbers from one to nine. “If you are doing this, please dial…
