I wrote market reports of solar industry for over 5 years, mostly for internal use of a big manufacturer in S. Korea. I put some at my blog at LinkedIn and gained quite some readership.
But the company went bankrupt, then I quickly lost the audience. I used the experiences to pitch some manfuacturers but it took them forever to make decision. Then I lost the track of the industry, I couldn't catch the details anymore. Then I lost it forever.
My point being, you have to stay very close to the currents of the industry to make in-depth reports. A few months off would leave the reports like scratching the surface. Kudos that you could stay in the market even working from home.
