My Superman Moments
People think they can change the world, but they can’t. People think they can’t change the world, but they can.
We all have our superman or superwoman moments. Saving a stranded bird in the park, beating your buddy on the court, a higher figure in the sales team. Naturally, the next thought would be, I will change the world.
Dear fellow supermen and superwomen, did you see it? The world around you keeps changing until you think you can change it.
One of my superman moments took place in Germany. I worked my ass off for three years before I became the CEO of the company. The ladder went higher every year. The world up there changed every year, too. Sometimes I looked in the mirror and told the guy, “Hi, you will change the world.”
Then I quit. I was just tired. I was tired of being CEO; its true name was actually Chief Everything Officer. The company was owned by a factory located in China. I was tired of the communication between China and Germany. My family still lived in China; I was tired of the international flights. You know what, I even had a secret guilt. I believed the company was set to shut down upon my departure. They couldn’t find my replacement. No one could handle the communication with China. No one could handle the German employees.
